These days, it seems as though every automaker out there is unveiling a new electric vehicle, and happily, Kia is no exception to the rule. The South Korean automaker recently showed off their new Ray EV concept at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, and we here at Beaverton Kia couldn’t be more thrilled!

What sets this new concept apart from the competition’s offerings is that Kia is claiming that it’s more or less production ready. That means we could be seeing it on our showroom floor at 12520 SW Canyon Rd Beaverton, OR 97005 sooner than we first thought.

The Kia Ray is equipped with a lithium polymer battery pack, which powers a 50-kW electric motor. This combination allows the Kia Ray to travel at a rate of 86 miles on a single charge. What’s more, however, is that it features what’s perhaps the least amount of down time that we’ve seen in the EV market so far when charging. It only takes the Kia Ray about 25 minutes to charge on a 220V outlet.

While news of an EV bound for dealership lots might seem a bit startling to some, we’re actually not that surprised. After all, we’re talking about the company that dominated the hybrid market with the record-setting Kia Optima Hybrid here… We’d expect nothing short of a game-changing entry into the electric vehicle market from them as well.

For more information on the Kia Ray EV, make sure to stay tuned, as we’re dedicated to keeping you informed.
